What you’re finishing

An 8-player racetrack poker table with a hardwood chip rail, stainless cup holders, a removable padded vinyl rail, and suited speed cloth—ready for a home game in the garage, den, or game room.

Put it together

1. Mount the folding legs on the base.
2. Set the cloth-covered center field in place and bolt it down through the T-nuts.
3. Drop in the cup holders.
4. Set the padded rail on the raceway. If it fits snug, you can leave it unfastened so it lifts off for cleaning.

Check the whole table: even rail height, flat playing field, level cups, and a raceway finish you’re proud of. When friends sit down, it should look bought—not improvised.

Fabric / upholstery

• Stretch vinyl for the padded rail (Whisper Vinyl or similar)
• Suited speed cloth (e.g. Brybelly 10-ft)
• 1/4“ closed-cell foam or neoprene for the playing field
• High-density foam for the rail
• 3M Super 77 spray adhesive
• Staples for a heavy-duty staple gun

Lumber & hardware

• 2 sheets 3/4“ birch plywood (4×8) for raceway and base
• 2 sheets 1/2“ plywood (4×8) for rail boards
• Wood glue
• Oil-based polyurethane and a good brush
• 1/4“-20 T-nuts and bolts
• Stainless drop-in cup holders (8+)
• Heavy folding table legs (~29“)

Tip: Photograph your finished table and write down your final radii and foam thicknesses. The next rebuild—or helping a friend build one—goes faster with real numbers.
