Start on the outside. Place the staples almost on top of each other. (many people reccomend a heat gun but it was not required with the whisper vinyl.)
The vinyl I chose was from yourautotrim.com (same as cloth and foam). It’s whisper vinyl black and has a great feel to it. It’s flexible but looks like a soft leather.

I am 0 for two on getting the leather on my rail nice and clean looking ! I start attaching on the outside and then cut on the inside leaving lots to work with but I get wrinkles and then I get folds and it really looks like crap !
I am by myself trying to pull and use the heat gun and staple and I can’t get it smooth
PS I am going to the fabric store again for the third time to get more leather
Make sure you aren’t buying real leather. Whisper Vinyl is more forgiving and flexible.
